Mark Frolich in Skateboarder

On the last international trip I went on to Portual with Louie and Derek, we also had our Ezekiel International team with us, starting with Jart Pro Mark Frolich. Whoa, this dude rips!
So we head to this chest high out bar, which if you flip over to one side, you obviously crash into the stairs, so Mark hauls ass and rips a backside 180 nosegrind probably in like 10 tries. Soo cool! It was a super bright day so we pretty much had our flashes on top of him. Thinking back.. that was a good trip. Thanks to Mark, Oli and Skateboarder!

Louie Barletta graces The Photo Issue of Skateboarder

I don't remember if I blogged this (blogging seems to be my pathetic way of scheduling my life) but Louie Barletta, Derek Fukuhara and I went to Portugal a month or so back. It was a rad 10 day trip, with not very much drinking, or partying, just more skating, chilling and hanging out with friends.. It was rather nice change. We were taken to this awesome huge metal sculpture which was the town center for this little port for sailors or something. Had a beautiful view of the refinery with millions and millions of boats floating on the water.

How this photo came around, was we were shown the spot on night before, where it was too dark to skate, but I was able to shoot some cool sunset photos of the spot. Then the next day, we just came back about an hour earlier, about dusk, and the guys just messed around a bit, and we shot some cool silhouette/sunset photos. This photo I really enjoyed shooting, maybe it's even... artsy? Haha.

Hendrik shot one from the other side of the structure, that ended up to become a cover for a German Magazine called Monster.

Thanks Louie and Skateboarder for the hookup! I will end this post on his quote that is in the magazine:

"This spot was in Portugal and the run was was right in front of this really old blue collar bar. After every attempt, I would have the entire bar heckling me. I tried to explain that their jeers were falling on deaf ears because I couldn't understand Portuguese. Well as luck would have it, I landed my trick and one of the guys from the bar, with concrete all over his well-worn overalls, came over to me and said in perfect English, "That was nice but I'd much rather have seen a hardflip." - Louie Barletta, No Comply.

Here was the original file which was much more saturated and digitally well.. digital.

Osiris Ad with Lee Yankou

On the same day of this wallie shove, we headed over to this rail which has been soo typically shredded often, but Mr. Yankou found a way to skate it a different way.
While shooting this photo, I asked him if he was going to fakie or straight. He replied quickly, "Dude... straight!" Arguably, I commented "But, I think fakie might be easier, since your body is already going that way," considering the trick was super knarly. He finished our conversation with a hype'd smile, "Naw, man.. Straight is way sicker." Obviously I didn't have much to say after that.

What was funny is rumor has it, that this was supposedly going to be a cover for Concrete Magazine. Another rumor was this cover was at the press, when we all saw Andrew Brophy photo in his Skateboarder interview. Quickly withdrawn and replaced nicely with a Jamie Tancowny cover. Thanks to Osiris Canada for the quick pickup of this photo and Concrete for even a chance of a possible cover, plus Lee for ripping man!

John Lupfer and Cezar Fernandez in Skateboarder

I just opened the new Skateboarder, and WHAM! The knarliest photos of Leo Romero! (see cover to left)

Also tons of great interview's along with Kris Markovich interviewed by the ever inquisitive Chris Nieratko (he interviewed most skaters in the mag) plus a couple photos that I was happy to see get run. Such as Mr. John Lufper in which one of his interview'd questions was "Who's mustashe is better.. Caswell's or Mikendo's?" Guess who won? Obvees.

Cezar's photo came by way of mystical magical way's. We went to that now ever so famous hubba spot. Derek Fukuhara and Vince shot some neat stuff earlier, then went up to the top.. Boom. 10 tries. Landed. No regular bs tail, no warmup. He had been standing around for about 1 hour. It's sometimes insane what I watch certain skateboarders do. Amazing. Check out Cezar's soon to be Mag Minute here to see the footage of his kicky bstail.

Dungonmaster and the Warlocks

As you seen the posts a couple months back, Ezekiel went on a Northwest Tour and skated everything and all of it.
Well, Skateboarder was soo kind as to give us the cover of the Febuary Issue of the Louie photo I shot! It's my first cover for a major magazine other then the ones I shot for FTK.
Plus a wonderful 10 page article with our entire trip. Randy wrote the story and I shot the photos. One of the best trips I've been on! Thanks soo much to Skateboarder and the Ezekiel Skateteam! Plus: Theresa, Matt Miller, Chris Ray, Jesse from Adidas, Alex Cazanas and everyone else who helped us on our trip.

Vince De Valle in Skateboarder

When I picked up Vince to shoot this sequence, its one of the first time's I met him. He didn't say anything the entire time in the car. I was thinking, "This is gonna be weird.." Found out later, he was a little stoney and was well.. just retarded. So, after time wore on and things wore off he was a talkative little pup and is super rad to hang out with! Thanks to Vince and Skateboarder for running this photo!

CHRIS GREGSON in SKATEBOARDER MAG

Soo I drove down to Skateboarder a couple weeks ago, and pick up the newest issue there.. Chris Gregson's photo is all up in there, nice!! Chris took me to this spot (which you can see is almost a insane vert pipe / death drop) and he found a way to tailslide the top part. What's soo radical, is this isn't how I originally wanted to shoot the photo. But what happened was Chris's friend dropped his board which knocked my flash into the tube. I left it for one shot.. and it blew the inside of the tunnel up. I was WHOA!! Re-adjusted the flash to fit in there nicely, and there you have it. Accidents making art or art making accidents?

NATE BROUSSARD in SKATEBOARDER

Back when Nate was staying at my house, we were skating sporadically. When possible was super cool to go skate with him and shoot some of the idea's he had. Nate is a free thinker with his skating and doesn't seem to let the typical setback's effect him. Tree wallie back180.

Randy's Skateboarder WHOS HOT!

Yes, Randy is hot right now. Skating super good meanwhile traveling everywhere from NYC, STL, and LA. This was some abandon drainage ditch, not really sure exactly. Mark took us here while in Chattanooga in TN and it started to rain insanely at the snap of lighting! Below are the original photo, and an outtake shot.

Robert Lim - Skateboarder

Just came out introducing Robert Lim to the Ezekiel Team as a new rider. We shot this on our Southern HOTSPOTality tour in TX (which has great spots by the way) On the 3rd night in a row at about 4am in the morning, freezing and tired, still everyone was ripping, I was super sick coughing, hacking and bundled in about 10 jackets, but I couldn't have missed out on this.
