Shoulda Woulda Coulda...Ezekiel Ad

John Lupfer and I shot this photo on a nice weekend day trek in San Diego with the homies Derek and Vince joining also. Always good times with Lupfer.

Recently, I got hit up about Johns new ad and kinda got heckled about the Ezekiel campaign of a reversal mirror imagery being added to Johns photo. Yeah, yeah I get it.. "Was it switch, was it regular?" Due to contrary and wishful belief, I don't do everything at Ezekiel (like layout the ads), and much like the rest of the industry, not every company is staffed entirely with die-hard skateboarders.

So agreed, if I were to choose, the layout below (which I created after the fact) would have been chosen. But, hey those are the advertising deadline ups and downs.

Speaking to John about the ad, his response was "I don't care, people who skate know, so it doesn't really matter. It makes em get a second glance." Hmmm.. Thats a good take on it.

Thanks to John and Ezekiel!

The Derek Fukuhara Interview

We did an Ezekiel Interview with Derek Fukuhara for the website, not to long ago. Then one random boring day, I laid it out in one of those magazine pdf styles thinggy. I dunno why, I think I just was bored, but either-way here they are.

The words are the same in both, but click the top for the Ezekiel link, and the image below to download the PDF. (right click = download linked file)

Vince Duran Slashed

We went on a trip to SF a couple week ago, and had a blasted great time. Here are a couple photos of Vince at a spot that he randomly saw and cried out while driving around San Francisco. Looks like it had been skated before.. Or had it?

Thanks Vince, always a pleasure. Trip on down to the video of it here!

TRIPPED AGAIN, IN SF (DAY2)

Part 2 of the Ezekiel Trip is posted -

"We packed all our things into one bag, and almost forget it all in SF. Plus due to contrary belief, it's not THAT hard surviving for a weekend on only 2 bottles of water and a Red Bull. I guess most people are just weaklings in comparison."

Mark Frolich in Skateboarder

On the last international trip I went on to Portual with Louie and Derek, we also had our Ezekiel International team with us, starting with Jart Pro Mark Frolich. Whoa, this dude rips!
So we head to this chest high out bar, which if you flip over to one side, you obviously crash into the stairs, so Mark hauls ass and rips a backside 180 nosegrind probably in like 10 tries. Soo cool! It was a super bright day so we pretty much had our flashes on top of him. Thinking back.. that was a good trip. Thanks to Mark, Oli and Skateboarder!

Derek Fukuhara's Ezekiel Ad

Derek and I spent a day at Venice beach a while back with Ryan Spencer, Darien and Vince. We went to a whoopty ledge and If you have been to this spot before you know how sandy it gets. So after a couple custom made leaf brooms we made a little pathway to his backside crailtail. Conveniently, Ezekiel needed an photo for an ad in the next couple days, so it got laid out almost instantly. If digital photography wasn't instant gratification enough, seeing it in print a month later makes it all that much sweeter. Thanks to Derek and all the broom makers.

Louie Barletta in a Bliss Ezekiel Ad

We had to create a quick Blisss Magazine ad for Ezekiel last month, and this is what we came up with, pretty rad. Unfortunately it was an older shot from our Ezekiel Northwest Tour but still excellent! The lifestyle shots are from the trip I took to SJ with a couple Red Bull riders so it was conveniently easy to shoot some random lifestyle stuff! Thanks Lou for your hospitality, and thanks for Ezek for running this ad!

Ezekiel Northwest Tour in Bliss Magazine

Yes, we bled the shit out of this Ezekiel Northwest Tour. I'm sorry, but if we can only go on 1 or 2 major trips a year, I wanna make sure everyone gets alot out of it.

This is the Bliss Article, that was ran a month or so back, with Louie Barletta, Randy Ploesser, Zach Wagner, Dave Abair, Evan Smith and Derek Fukuhara - which it was also written by Derek, which was super nice and sweet of him.

Thanks to Bliss Magazine for using my photos and running this, thanks to Derek for writing it, and thanks for Ezekiel Clothing for sending us! We had a blast, really.

Randy Ploesser Ezekiel Ad 2009

In serious need of a update, here is my first of many. I got a couple mins, just enough time to update nicely. This was an Ezekiel Clothing ad I shot of Randy Ploesser when he was living out here. Lucky for me, this spot is on a major street, but only a couple blocks from my house (you cant go wrong with a session in your own town).

The portrait to the right was a candid shot in San Jose when we were on our Ezekiel Northwest Tour. Randy was kinda disappointed in us for using this photo, which I can totally understand, but then again, this is such an epic photo of Randy's quirk.

Louie Barletta Ezekiel Ad 09

This is Louie Barletta's new Ezekiel Clothing ad for the 2009 campaign. Dave Chami shot this invert or.. he actually called it some other name, but regardless, we were glad to get the photo, thanks Dave!

Also I was able to use some of the lifestyle photos I shot from the Ezekiel Northwest Tour of sweet Lou. So they scatterd those pups around and gave it some life. Thanks Ezekiel for the love, and Louie for being soo damn entertaining.

Dungonmaster and the Warlocks

As you seen the posts a couple months back, Ezekiel went on a Northwest Tour and skated everything and all of it.
Well, Skateboarder was soo kind as to give us the cover of the Febuary Issue of the Louie photo I shot! It's my first cover for a major magazine other then the ones I shot for FTK.
Plus a wonderful 10 page article with our entire trip. Randy wrote the story and I shot the photos. One of the best trips I've been on! Thanks soo much to Skateboarder and the Ezekiel Skateteam! Plus: Theresa, Matt Miller, Chris Ray, Jesse from Adidas, Alex Cazanas and everyone else who helped us on our trip.

Ezekiel Girls Ad in Nylon

This is quite the random post. Last year, we went on a catalog shoot for Ezekiel down to Mexico. Not planning on shooting any sort of lifestyle, somehow I ended up shooting.. in which the final catalog's had a pretty good portion of my photos, for mens and woman. But what I had found out also, is they used a lot of my photos also for their ad campaign which was featured in a couple magazines including Nylon. Scanning through an old stack of magazines, I saw this ad and saw tons of my photos in it, which is awesome, because I am hoping some Supermodel lingerie company will stumble upon my post/website and want me to shoot hot chicks all day long! My fingers are crossed, trust me.

JOEY PEPPERS NEW EZEKIEL AD

JOEY PEPPERS NEW AD! Soo hyped on this photo! Out in NY, things can get confusing, out at night, too hot during the day, no car to solidify crews, we're just skating through the streets. On one day, Pepps said he wanted to do this trick and had already landed it, so obviously I was keen on the idea. Upon arriving he was already cranker out and needless to say, the ad above was incredible. Thank you Joey Pepper for your time and effort, see you in NY!

STILL IN HIGHSCHOOL!

Sometimes I forget that these kids I skate with are still in High School. IE: John Demar, an Ezekiel and Element flow rider shows up to skate with a cock on his back car window. When I asked what happened, his response was simply "Ohh, just a senior prank." Wow its been a long time since I had a senior play a prank on me. Also, if they did, is drawing a penis on my back windshield is the best they can do? Only in Irvine I guess.

Have a gander at John Demars ELEMENT FOOTAGE, its mighty good.

Jason Wakuzawa and OTwo Collaboration

What I love about skateboarding and photography is that we are all creating upon creating. Wow that sounded really cheezy.. but anyways, what was awesome is that I get an email from Otwo, an artist from London who did the artwork on the side of the wall (see photo above). He tracked me down from Ezekiel Europe and asked for a hi-rez photo for his porfolio. Fucking ripping! Check out his older blog for and artwork for updates on OTwo.

Yes, Randy is hot right now. Skating super good meanwhile traveling everywhere from NYC, STL, and LA. This was some abandon drainage ditch, not really sure exactly. Mark took us here while in Chattanooga in TN and it started to rain insanely at the snap of lighting! Below are the original photo, and an outtake shot.

SLACK | DEPORTED TOUR

I finally got around to getting all our articles from our Ezekiel "Deported Tour" last year. This is my first tour article, especially one from Europe. It was in Slack, a CCS style magazine from Germany. Thanks Oli for setting this up. If you look carefully or follow our Ezekiel coverage, alot of the photos are double angles from other European articles we had during our time in Europe.
Go ahead and click above to view the article, and book your next flight to Europe already, duh!

Robert Lim Ezekiel Ad

This is Roberts Lim's first Ezekiel Ad! Robert was kinda struggling with this trick. The bstail was every try, but when he would come off the curve his body wanted to go 180. After some frustration, it was almost like a light bulb over his head. And he called out "Ok dudes, dont fuck up, cause imma land it this try" Snap, Slide, Flip, Catch and Land.. What you dont see in the ad, is an extra two frames of shock in his face. He called it, and he did it. Skateboarding is wonderful.
